Bogolan Indigo Mali

Indigo is the first dye plant in West Africa, and the most widespread. It characterizes this intense and deep blue, which will be declined in different patterns according to the peoples of West Africa. It is a traditional, totally artisanal fabric: the vegetable dye is applied to fabrics woven in spun cotton. The patterns are made by reserve: it is to tie or sew with a cotton thread, raffia or the plastic fibers of an old bag of rice, the areas where the patterns will be revealed.
